Life's Priorities | Back to articles | Articles sitemap |
Do
you ever feel like there just isn't enough time in the day
to take care of everything you need to do? I know sometimes
I definitely do. Each day, whether we realize it or not,
we prioritize our daily routines. A high priority would most
likely be taken care of that day, where as a low priority
could probably wait until the next day, or even later in
the week. Did you know that prioritizing works the same way
with Jesus? I want you to read this very slowly and really
let it sink in : If you make Jesus first priority
in your life, then your life becomes first priority to Jesus! If you make Jesus a low priority however and keep putting Him off
until tomorrow, then before long Satan will start prioritizing
your life for you! Now this being said, here are some reasons
why making Jesus first priority is so important.
- A personal relationship with God
- Freedom from worry/fear, depression, guilt and condemnation
- Freedom from sickness and disease
- Increased life on earth
- Comfort in the worldly events that take place (ex. war
in Iraq or S.A.R.S)
- Peace of mind, heart, and spirit
- Happiness and joy in all areas of your
life
- An increase in wisdom
- An abundance of blessings
Now,
it's crucial to understand that many of us won't reap all of
these benefits right away: For you to be able to receive
all of this from God, your life has to be right in God's
eyes. When you accept Jesus into your heart, you begin a
covenant relationship with God. The absolutely most powerful
kind of relationship you can have. A covenant relationship
is like a contract, and we have to meet God's requirements
for us to be in a position to receive His blessing. Satan
will do his very best to keep you from receiving all of God's
blessings. He will put obstacles in your path and try to
head you off at every and any opportunity he gets. The Bible
says "The thief (Satan)
cometh not but to steal, and to kill, and to destroy; I (Jesus)
am come that they might have life, and that they might have
it more abundantly." (John 10:10) To be in the right position to receive from
God, there is two MAJOR things that you have to do: 1.) Accept
Jesus into your heart. 2.) Change your life and eliminate
sin. Now there are definitely more steps
to take, but these are the crucial steps to take to start
your spiritual development, and to put you in a position
to receive. If you make Jesus first priority in your life,
you'll watch your life change for the best before your own
eyes.
