Let God control your finances | Back to articles | Articles sitemap |
Today
I’m going to discuss financial prosperity, and how God
can make it happen if you let Him take control! First however,
let’s get a very common myth out of the way. A myth that
has been embedded in some church’s teaching: That “God
doesn't want us to financially prosper; that the church shouldn’t
have too much money.” That is totally one hundred percent
untrue. God wants us to be blessed so abundantly that we don’t
even know what to do with all that He’s given us, and
then even bless us some more after that! God wants us
to be blessed, so that we may be a blessing to others. Understand
however that Biblical prosperity is not only financial
prosperity.
Unfortunately
when it comes to finances, many are simply looking for a quick
fix. Some Christians are looking so desperately for a quick
fix to financial problems that they ignore the basics of living
a Godly life, and pursue just that one particular quick fix
(or quick scripture). This article will give you a better understanding
of God’s ways, so that you can prosper!
To
understand how we can financially prosper, it’s important
to first identify what’s stopping us. You cannot
be living an ungodly life, while trying to use prosperity
scriptures out of the Bible and expect things to work out.
It doesn’t work that way. We must instead be in a position
to receive from God! To be in that position we have to practice
a continual lifestyle built on the Word of God. We have to
operate by His Word. You have to be reborn in Christ Jesus.
When
you resist sin and walk righteously before God
you’re
opening a spiritual doorway and activating a spiritual law
of prosperity (not just in finances, but all areas of life)
that God has set in place. It’s
not that God doesn’t
want to help sinners, God still loves and wants to help sinners
too. When you sin however, you are separating yourself from
God, not allowing him to help you.
In other words when we sin we are turning our back
on God.
Allowing
spiritual growth to take place is crucial. God’s plan
is for us to grow financially as we grow spiritually. In
the Bible the Apostle John wrote under the inspiration of
God: “Beloved,
I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in
health, even as thy soul prospereth.” (3
John 1:2)
Why does God want us to grow financially as we grow
spiritually? Simply because God knows what happens
to those who are too spiritually immature to handle
great wealth. They abuse what they have, and
they turn to sin. They spend their money on drugs,
alcohol, and other evil things.
They begin to trust in their riches, and many become
greedy. Eventually they ultimately end up destroying
themselves. Keep in mind many of the worlds
“wealthy” have usually acquired their money
by the world’s system, not God’s system.
An example of the world’s system is the Casino.
You play your “odds” putting trust in the
world’s system to help you become rich fast.
While a very small percentage win, many lose. Don’t
let Satan steal your money. God’s way is the
way of success. The Bible say: “As
ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so
walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished
in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein
with thanksgiving.” (Colossians
2:6) Well then lets get rooted and start to receive!
It’s time to prosper, hallelujah!
When
you understand that we grow financially as we grow spiritually,
then another important part of this prosperity puzzle comes
into place. Continually feed your spirit! Jesus gave us the
key to prosperity in all aspects of life when he said “seek
ye first the kingdom of God, and its righteousness; and all
these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew
6:33) When Jesus said “these things”
He’s talking about food, water, clothing, shelter,
and yes money too! Now, here lies a very important point.
Remember that we are in a covenant relationship with
God. We know that God’s part of the covenant is
to prosper us in all areas of life. Our part of the covenant
is to seek His kingdom first. It is not to seek after
that financial prosperity first. If you begin to seek
financial prosperity first you will get sidetracked,
and you will fall short of letting God have control over
that area. You have to tie God’s Word concerning
financial prosperity to the rest of his commandments
in order for financial prosperity to manifest. All of
the elements of God’s Word have to be functioning
simultaneously in your life, not just the ones concerning
money.
So
how can you start on the road to prosperity today? By becoming
rooted in God’s word, feeding your spirit, and obeying
His commandments! By showing God that you are spiritually
mature and can live a righteous life, you are saying to him: “God,
I am ready to receive! Put yourself in a position to receive
and let God control your finances! It doesn’t matter
what company or store you work for, because when you’re
living by God’s Word God is your employer!
You might make a certain wage when you work, but God
will not limit your income to that. Whatever
you make becomes irrelevant! When you allow God to
become your employer, a life of abundance is on its
way!
