Faithworks: Victory by faith
Faith is one
of the most crucial components needed for a successful Christian life.
In fact the Bible tells us that without faith it is impossible to please
God: “But
without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to
God must believe that He is (you must believe
that God exists by faith), and that He is a rewarder of them
that diligently seek Him.”
(Hebrews 11:6)
This section
entitled “Faithworks”
will explain 1.) what faith is 2.) how to obtain faith and 3.) how
to properly exercise faith thus accomplishing success throughout all
areas of your life.
What
is faith?
Faith can sometimes be difficult to understand. Below are many different
definitions of faith to help you get an excellent grasp on what faith
really is.
1.)The Bible
defines faith as: “the substance of things
hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
(Hebrews 11:1) Translated into slightly simpler terms Hebrews 11:1 is
saying: “Faith is the matter or essence of things hoped for, it’s
the proof of things that are not (yet) seen.”
2.) Faith
is the certainty that something is true, even if there seems to
be no evidence to support it.
3.) Faith
is the belief that something is true, in spite of some form of evidence
to the contrary.
-Biblically
speaking, having faith is simply trusting in God. Trusting that
His Word is true; that His Word will accomplish what is says it will
and stand supreme forever.
Obtaining
faith:
Obtaining
faith will always trace back to God, for it is God who gives us faith
through His Word. In order for us to receive faith by God’s Word
however, we must first believe that He is. You would not get faith
from the Bible if you thought it wasn’t God’s Word. After
all, if the Bible wasn’t inspired by God then who would we have
faith in?
God doesn’t
lie, and God is the only one who has the power to do the things promised
in the Bible. If the Bible hadn’t been inspired by a perfect,
all-powerful, all-truthful deity, then we could not trust its claims
because there would be no true power behind the scripture or words.
Therefore believing in God, that He is who He says He is, that all
scripture was inspired by Him, and that He speaks all truth, is an
absolute must.
Satan has
blinded and fooled many people into believing that the Bible is not
real or true. He does this because he knows if those people choose
to believe in God and that His Word is true, they can then draw faith
from God’s Word and eventually rid Satan from functioning in
their lives. This is why there are now so many religions. Satan wants
to trick us into believing and worshiping other (false) Gods therefore
keeping us from the truth allowing him to function openly in our lives
and keep our souls dammed.
Obtaining
faith will always relate to God’s Word, just in different ways.
The Bible says that: “faith
cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
(Romans 10:17) In other words you get faith by filling your spirit and
mind with the Word of God, the Bible. When your eyes read across those
scriptures they will generate faith inside of you. Scripture is Holy
and has supremacy; it has authority. God has set a spiritual law into
motion: by reading or hearing His word, faith becomes a product.
Faith can
also be obtained by going to Church. There the Word of God is preached
or taught. Church is where you can receive and learn. Going to church
each week will help to renew your mind to the Word of God, thus reinforcing
and increasing your faith while also keeping you from sin.
Finally, listening
to the testimonies of others and having conversations with friends
and family about God and what He is doing in your life will bring faith.
Why? Once again because at the center of both those things are God’s
Word. Remember, God’s Word is always the foundation for faith
building.
Exercising
faith:
When it comes
to exercising faith the Bible is very clear. It firmly states that: “faith
worketh by love.”
(Galatians 5:6) So what does this mean? Exactly what it states: Faith
works when we operate in love. This means more then simply being a loving
person however, though that is good.
Operating
in love means taking on the characteristics of love. Patience, kindness,
forgiveness, generosity, humility, courtesy, unselfishness, good temperedness,
righteousness and sincerity are all characteristics of love. By adopting
the characteristics of love and operating in them every day, your faith
will only grow stronger and stronger. This in turn will produce faster
and faster results in your life. In addition to that Satan won’t
be able to get any fear inside you because you will be so full of love
and faith that there won’t be room for anything else. The Bible
affirms this: “There
is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear
hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.”
(1 John 4:18)
Now when you
are praying, asking, or believing for something in faith, find scripture
to back up what you are believing for. If it's promised in scripture,
then it's guaranteed.
Scripture covers every single problem that could ever arise on earth!
Every one of them! The problem with lots of people today is that
they don't know how to interpret or understand scripture correctly.
Some think that the Bible must directly address an issue
for it to offer any help or promises. This is not true, the Bible
answers many things indirectly. Some scriptures cover a wide range
of issues by themselves.
Concerning
praying in faith the Bible tells us this :"But
let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like
a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed."
(James 1:6) In other words, if you let fear contaminate your faith,
then your faith won't work! So again, fill yourself up with love
and faith and there will be no room for fear. If fear tries to
come over you, rebuke it in the name of Jesus! Say:
"Father,
I come to you in the name of Jesus: I know that fear is not from
you, but from the devil. Fear, I speak to you in the name of Jesus
and I command you to leave at once! You will not rule
or influence me any longer because God has not given
me the spirit of fear but has given me the spirit
of power, love, and a sound mind. I walk in the perfect love of God
and therefore fear has no hold over me. I will fear no evil Lord because
I know you are always with me. I thank you and praise you Father for
setting me free from fear in Jesus' name, Amen."
Finally vocally exercising our faith, speaking
faith words, will bring to pass the manifestation of our faith.
We have been created in the image of God. God has bestowed
authority and power into our words. The words we speak in our
lives literally have the power to make or break us. Our
words "water"
the faith seeds that we plant.
For a great
example of how to exercise the power of words lets look to Mark 11:23-24:
"For verily
I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou
removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart,
but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come
to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore
I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray,
believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." Notice
that Jesus is referring to the power of our faith filled words! Our
words have power and authority through Jesus! So next time that
sickness tries to come you your way you rebuke it in the name of Jesus
and claim by His stripes, you are healed! Proclaim that you are
healed and receive it in the name of Jesus! If you're under financial
pressure, stop claiming that you're broke, claim "I am delivered
from this financial burden and receive the abundant blessings of God!"
Pray to God with unwavering faith, believe, and exercise your authority
through Christ! Water your faith seeds with your words!
Again remember
that “faith
cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans
10:17) When you speak faith words (scripture) if goes from your
mouth right back into your own ears therefore feeding your spirit and
increasing your faith! We have two options when it comes to our
words. We can either speak things out of faith or fear. Faith spoken
words will connect us to God’s power and fear spoken words will
connect us with Satan’s perversion of God’s power. Notice
Satan doesn’t have any true power himself.
Speaking fear-based words (eg."my back is killing me", "I'm
always broke", "I'm always sick") will work just like
our faith words are bring manifestation of those things into our lives.
Therefore we must start thinking faith thoughts and speaking faith words.
Speaking faith words will lead us to victory!
Putting
it all together:
Now let’s put everything together making a faith formula for success!
1.) Read the
Word of God
2.) Receive what you’ve read (or heard) and thank God for it.
3.) Believe what the Word says, and that God’s Word cannot fail!
4.) Speak and proclaim the victory in the name of Jesus.
5.) Act upon the Word and it’s promises.
Remember we
can do all things through Gods Word!
Finally I leave you with this scripture:
“O
love the Lord, all ye his saints: for the Lord preserveth the
faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.” (Psalms
31:23)
